nanny is busy

i have been missing in action... LOTS of action, so i barely have time to write.  if you are wondering what i am up to... most of my activities are feeding off pinterest.  yes, i know, everyone is on pinterest, but it has been fun gathering ideas and following through with lots of great results.
so, why am i here today? my mom is back into sewing and completed a project - a duvet cover for my dad's throw.
it turned out good, don't ya think?! someday i will post pictures of her beautiful garden.
i will be back here and there to give you a glimpse of what we have been up to around here.  chat soon!

flower pillows, ruffle pillows

Some of my new favorite things...
I have been busy making a few interior changes here and there.  Behind the new linen ruffle is the new cover.  It's a fresh change.
I loved my new linen ruffle pillow covers so much, I just had to share.  We will see how they will do in my Etsy shop.  Wish them luck!

first day

Today is B's first day of Preschool.  I'm excited for her.  She's ready and thrilled, too.  I made her nap mat (of course) and she's decked out with a new backpack and lunchbox.
Her blanket and pillow are attached to the reversible, quilted mat.  I used the same materials as the blanket she sleeps with at home.  It folds up and closes with a handle, too.
Good luck, honey!

New Color

Our family room was in need of a little color.  The room is an open concept with the kitchen and since I toned things down by painting the red kitchen, white, we needed to add in some color.
I love the scandinavian, bold print on the new pillow covers.

stretch that wardrobe

B has a few dresses from the end of last season that are still so cute, but a little short.  Quick fix from Mommy - I added a hemmed, gathered band of a cute fabric to the bottom (straight stitch).  Tada!  Like-new dress, one more season.  Love it.  Oh- I've done this to a few tops and tanks, too - B is in love with dresses.
P.S. - happy weekend to you!

flower headbands

Maybe you need a quick weekend project for fun?  I whip these cute headbands out for B whenever she needs a little something to make her wavy hair less crazy or a bland outfit more fun.  She loves them.
What do you need?
  • A flower - pretend, of course.  I go with felt or maybe a cute silk.  Buy or make your own.  You can cut felt out like a big flower, layer and add a button in the middle to hold it together.
  • Ribbon - 14"
  • 1/4" Elastic - 4"
Sew the flower to the ribbon.  Sew (zig-zag stitch) the ends of the ribbon to the ends of the elastic.  Ta-da!

Same baskets, different look

Adding more baskets - keeping things interesting around here...  with a variety of inserts. Some of the baskets feature a super sturdy, unbleached cotton canvas while others feature the dyed cotton curtain fabric.  I have made the large and small sizes, even bigger... leaving me with an extra small option.  So many options, so little time!  I love these so much, I was hesitant to add them to my Etsy inventory!  I must learn to share... or make more.  Let's make more...

coffee sack totes

New things for my Etsy shop... totes.  I'm not really a purse kind of gal, but these totes are certainly handy.  Upcycled in every way - coffee sacks, recycled buttons, hand braided loops, and lined with remnant canvas in a bold damask print.
